Lisa Heddens is serving her fifth term in the Iowa House. She is the Ranking Member on the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee. She also serves on the Appropriations, Economic Growth, Human Resources and the Veterans Affairs Committees.

Lisa was born on June 6, 1964 in Rochester, Minnesota and moved to Ames in 1984. In 1989, Lisa earned a teaching certificate in elementary education at Iowa State University. She has spent most of her professional life working with family service agencies. She currently works for LSI's People Place in Ames. 

Lisa and Jeff have been married for twenty-seven years. Jeff served twenty-two years in Army Reserves. He currently works for the Iowa Department of Public Defense. 

They have two children. Makenzie, a recent graduate from Iowa State University, and Paul, a junior in high school.
